About
Lowcountry Hunt
Founded in 2006, Lowcountry Hunt brings together riders, hounds, and friends who share a love of foxhunting and the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Lowcountry Hunt was founded in the spring of 2006 by Founding Masters Nina Burke, Dr. Mark Shambley, and Melinda Shambley.
Together we enjoy hunting on some of the oldest and most beautiful plantations in the state. From the salt marshes to the groves of ancient live oaks, the landscapes are certainly breathtaking.
To commemorate the traditions of the region, our hunt colors are indigo and gold in honor of two vital historical crops: Indigo and Carolina Gold rice.

Indigo and Gold
Our colors come from the region itself: the deep blue of indigo and the warm gold of Carolina Gold rice.

What We Stand For
Three things shape everything the Hunt does: the preservation of mounted hunting with hounds; the standards of conduct and courtesy that go with it, in the field and with the people whose land we cross; and the conservation of the open country, woods and waterways that make hunting here possible at all.
Lowcountry Hunt is recognized by the Masters of Foxhounds Association of North America, the governing body for organized hunts in the United States and Canada, and keeps to its standards for hunting, hound welfare and the conduct of the field.
